"I was raised on spring water, back roads, dirty potatoes, and the sound of creaking pines in the wind. One of my earliest memories is running on a riverbed, my baby feet bare and covered in sand as I tried to catch toads. I remember the quiet and the rustle of the wind in the trees, the cold clammy feeling of the toads wriggling to break free of my fingers, and the whisper of the trees."
Sasha Casta Williams is a visual artist and educator based in Central Alberta, Canada. A writer, photographer, and depth psychologist, her work is a reclamation of how she saw things as a child: through the lens of the animacy of everything. Using a Jungian and Archetypal arts based approach, Williams draws on the imaginal, the both/and nature of reality, and a myth-infused self-narrative, blurring lines between mind and matter while advocating reverence for the symbolic perspective that draws us back to nature.
Sasha Casta Williams is a visual artist and educator based in the Prairies of Central Alberta. A writer, photographer, and depth psychologist, her work is a response to the relationship between the psychic and physical. Utilizing themes of the psychoid nature of reality, mythologizing self-narrative, and the tension of opposites, Williams blurs the lines between mind and matter while advocating reverence for the symbolic perspective that draws us back to nature.
