Sasha Casta Williams is a visual artist and educator based in the Prairies of Central Alberta. A writer, photographer, and depth psychologist, her work is a response to the relationship between the psychic and physical. Utilizing imaginal themes, the both/and nature of reality, and building a mythological self-narrative, Williams blurs the lines between mind and matter while advocating reverence for the symbolic perspective that draws us back to nature.
When memory fades, image remembers. As language of the psyche, Image transcends recall; it manifests in both conscious and unconscious spaces. The photograph is memory made artifact, a tangible object inhabiting physical space and as such it bridges the psychic and physical worlds. Pictures are alchemy, a transmutation of the immaterial that mediates mind and matter.
